I like to go to the fair once every few years, let a little time pass in between so I can get excited about everything again. I brought my camera along this time with big dreams of getting some cool fair portraits, but it was dreary and I didn’t want to ruin my “nice” lenses so I dusted off a lil one I never use. It was kind of fun getting used to using a different lens, freshened up my approach… or if not freshened, then adjusted. It’s deep wedding and portrait season, so thinking about taking photos outside of that was a nice break from routine. Thanks Kaki and Carly for letting me snap your pics all day. I so want to go back and get at that Midway around dusk for some portraits. It’s on the list.
With their wedding coming up in a couple weeks, I thought I’d put up some photos from Kate and Nash’s June engagement session. We decided to meet in the morning to try to avoid the busy time of day, and turns out I love morning sessions! It was so great to have these spaces to ourselves, and the light was still super nice. Can’t wait for their wedding in September!
Back in June my beautiful cousin Rachel (and Mike) welcomed little C into the world. I went over to their house when he was just five days old to take some photos and capture his brand-newness. He’s so sweet, and made photos the absolute easiest. Babe was calm and content the entire time, takes after his mama already. I’m really in love with this baby, so excited to watch him grow.
My beautiful cousin Rachel is having a baby! Rachel and I grew up spending a lot of time together and she’s just the best. I couldn’t wait to get some photos of her and her beau Mike (and little Max) before their baby arrives this summer. We visited a park in Minneapolis (apparently the same park where all pre-prom photos were being taken for the entire state, eeek, but we made it work!) and had fun walking around and catching up. The sun was perfect, the trees were in bloom, it was a truly gorgeous night. If only all photos could be taken in the middle of May:) Rachel and Mike, your baby is so lucky to have you as parents. I can’t wait to meet the little guy.
Kate and Kittle were married on a beautiful October day last fall. These two met while attending Carleton College, and came back to MN for their wedding and celebration. They started the day getting ready at the Grand Hotel Minneapolis and then headed down to Schaar’s Gathering Center in Hastings for a small ceremony alongside a close group of family and friends, and big celebration with dancing and s’mores and there’s not much better than that. It was so great to be a part of their day — congrats to you both!
